So, you wanna be a voice actor?

I get asked this question a lot

“How do I get into Voiceover?”

I created this page with my “Go To Suggestions” on where to start.

If you ask 100 Voice Actors, you may get 100 different answers.

Do your research and follow what feels right for you!

  1. Get Training!

Just like with any industry or profession, you can’t just walk in on day one and GO. There is a lot to learn and a lot of competition out there and if you are serious about getting yourself into VO, you’ll want to set yourself up for success! If you are new to voiceover or acting, I HIGHLY recommend getting into group classes. Why group Classes? There is a lot to learn from others! People ask different questions and have different perspectives on reads. If you live somewhere that offers in person classes, do that! But if you don’t or feel more comfy at home here are a just a few studios that offer a variety of classes online. Check them out and find a class that speaks to you!

Also, I highly suggest Improv classes! Gets your body moving, keeps you on your toes, and gets you out of your comfort zone!

But Marisa! I don’t have the money to train right now! HELP!

The good news is, we are in the digital age and there is SO MUCH INFORMATION out there at your fingertips! The bad news is, sometimes that can feel overwhelming! You can wait to invest in this career path for a little while, but understand that in time, there will be some financial investment involved in training, gear, and studio set up.
